The Duke's Daughter Drops Her Engagement and Facade · review
Spoiler warning
This review may discuss plot details.
This review will contain some spoilers of the first 10 chapters of the manga. the premise is cliche but the execution isn't. So it starts of with the cliche prince accusing the MC for bullying a heroine-like character and then breaking off their engagement, but then we find out the MC is actually friends with the heroine and never wanted to be the queen, she just wanted to be the prince's knight. The thing I liked the most about this story is that the shitty prince actually reflects on his actions, cares for his people and wants to move on instead of walking the path of ruin likemany other ex-fiance characters would have in these kinds of mangas. In other words, he quickly admits his mistakes, tries to learn from them and wants to move on with his life, instead of stubbornly believing in his own truth.
It's not confirmed as of chapter 10 but I like that it seems like the ML won't be a high-ranking noble like in most other mangas similar to this. In these kinds of stories, the MC usually ends up with someone more powerful than their ex, but the ML in this manga will most likely be a prominent knight instead of the king of another kingdom.
I didn't love this manga but I'd say it's still among the better ones in the "my fiance broke off our engagement" trope
