Now, before I review, this is my favorite anime. So I might be a bit biased. The hidden gem, Ano Natsu de Matteru, otherwise known as "Waiting in the Summer" is a romantic slice of life with a hint of sci-fi. It’s about a group of friends that decide to create a movie over the summer time. I only really decided to watch this because it under the many recommendations in Ano Hana. (Plus there was a romance tag) Story- 7 I’ll admit, it’s not the best anime I’ve ever seen before. I’ve definitely seen much better but this happened to appeal to my tastes very well. Thestory is definitely the weakest part. It’s very cliché with the whole, hang out with friends with romance idea. But its inclusion with sci-fi that makes it unique.

Art- 9
One of the most enjoyable parts of this anime is the art. I feel like I’m watching a movie the entire time. The art style also gives that summer feeling. It’s very bright and colorful.

Sound- 9
Also an extremely enjoyable part. From the amazing use of the opening and ending. To the minor details like glasses clinking together, or the sound of cicadas. The sound in this anime just gives me that "chill" feeling that I couldn’t get from any other. Jin Aketagawa (The sound director) adds a slight techno feel to most of the songs which brings out the sci-fi aspect to this anime while still keeping its romantic slice of life genre in the music.

Characters- 8
I’ll admit, the characters are very cliché. But what those characters do. They create a perfect love triangle. Well more like a love pentagon. Normally, at least one character is left out in these romance slice of life genres. But this one does it so well. Good luck trying to ship them

Ending- 10
Those anime endings that make you crave more. But then you realize that there is no more. Well this is a perfect example. Does the ending feel a bit rushed? Yes. But the way the ending is done is perfect. The last few episodes bring out the sci-fi genre of this anime. The extremely climactic last episode followed with the last few minutes of the anime. You will start getting mad that such a good anime ended in such a way until you see the last scene. Then you will question, "Was that a cliffhanger".

Enjoyment- 10
This anime definitely satisfied my cravings for being a sucker for romance. And it gave me that extra summer appeal that I love.
