Review of Bakemonogatari
I was recommended Monogatari a while ago, some months I may say, and after finishing every single season released in anime, I was thinking about how Bakemonogatari could be so poor compared to the other seasons. But yeah, I already knew why I didn't like this show at all. Bakemonogatari arcs in general looked like introductory arcs. Of course, it was the first part of the series, so we needed to know more about the characters before jumping to the story. Having said that, I can sum up the Bakemonogatari's problems in one character alone: Senjougahara Hitagi. Senjougahara is the worst character in Monogatari Series, shedoesn't really have a function to play by herself, only helping other characters to shine, she's uninteresting and, more important, she's extremely annoying. You know, I tried to accept Senjougahara as a part of the series, but her dialogues are always the same thing: verbally and sometimes fisically abusing Araragi. Senjougahara is depicted as literally the worst person you could ever know, and even though, nobody points this out or gets out of her sight. It looks like the author wanted to make you like her, even though she is a terrible character. After saying all that, Hitagi Crab is the worst arc in Bakemonogatari, you get 90% of Senjougahara's annoying abuses and 10% of her uninteresting backstory that only serves for Kaiki's introduction in Nisemonogatari. Mayoi Snail was an okay arc, Hachikuji is a great character, but this arc doesn't do justice to her, as it is somehow boring, but the story was at least more interesting than Senjougahara's. Nadeko Snake is like, extremely bad(not as bad as Hitagi Crab though), because it doesn't develop Nadeko as an important character at all, you just don't care about her, there's nothing really extreme happening and this arc is really forgetable.
The two good arcs that save Bakemonogatari of being a complete disaster are Suruga Monkey and Tsubasa Cat. Suruga Monkey has a pretty interesting story and monster, even though Rainy Devil only gets a real explanation later in the series, but you can really feel the hype and this arc is really intense. Tsubasa Cat is too, a great arc, as it starts Hanekawa development and gives an introduction of the events of Nekomonogatari:Kuro, featuring Black Hanekawa.
So to sum it up, most of Bakemonogatari arcs are forgetable, boring and stupid in story and we have an extremely annoying character that ends being painful when you are trying to at least enjoy the story. Bakemonogatari is a really bad show, end of the story.
