The characters in this anime are really fun and share a great bond, leading to some extremely funny moments between them. Revy has a really Interesting and deep backstory that makes you feel attached to the character. Another great part about her character is her struggle and inability to express herself. As for Rock, the human aspect of his character is what I love so much about him and his struggle dealing with a new life. The villains that the gang comes across are surprisingly really in-depth each of them having thorough backstories and interesting personalities. The two other gang members, Dutch and Benny, could’ve got a little more expansion, especially Dutch, considering that Revy mentions his mysterious past, which I think could’ve been interesting to hear more about, but that’s not to say they’re bad characters.
The story follows the Lagoon delivering shit for their clients and in each episode, there is a different delivery. The episodes are unique, fun, action-packed, and very entertaining, especially again with how great the villains are. The animation is good especially in the fight scenes and the art goes hard as well. Something I don’t usually mention in my reviews is the voice acting but I have to for Black Lagoon because the voice talent is just so perfect for every character. The intro is nuts and the outro is really mysterious and fits really well with the show. Overall, Black Lagoon is an outstanding show with an amazing cast of unique and funny characters although I wish some of them got more attention. Fun and incredibly well-designed episodes that keep you engaged.
Good art, animation, and music.
