Where do I even begin? Oh, I know. Let me start by saying that Kiss x Sis was the first anime I'd ever watched. 5 years later, and 200+ anime series watched, I decided to revisit the anime that started it all for me. And it was every bit as terrible and entertaining as I remember it being. In short, I'd describe Kiss x Sis as a masterclass in absolutely disgusting ecchi. If you're a nasty, sexually frustrated individual who dreams of incestuous encounters with your imaginary (or real, God help us) sister(s), then you might thoroughly enjoy the 288 minutes of pure degeneracy that thisseries offers.

And when I mean "incestuous encounters", you're not getting the odd titty-grab, or the occasional slip-on-the-floor-turned-missionary ecchi tactics. You won't just be getting the innuendo. No, Kiss x Sis treats ecchi like a contact sport. As in, a lot of touching, a lot of the time.

There are two ways this anime can possibly be enjoyed: either as a so-bad-it's-good anime, or as...softcore porn.

Story:

The structure of the anime is pretty skeletal; each episode is self contained, with little actually carrying over episode-to-episode. There is no overarching story, and very little story/character development (as it should be). Kiss x Sis doesn't pretend to be anything more than it should be. Every episode is essentially a buildup to the main sexual encounter between one of the female """leads""" (be it the sisters or some other thot) and our protagonist. The some of the actual ecchi scenes are stunningly creative, with a buildup that, dare I say, is logical? Which brings me to main point for this section: some of the ecchi scenes are unoriginal, and pretty common to the genre, but the ecchi scenes that take up multiple MINUTES of screen time are not only creative, but pretty damn good.

Characters:

There are three characters that really matter in the Kiss x Sis universe, and its Keita and his two beloved (step) twin sisters Ako and Riko. All three are way too physically developed for their age.

Ako and Riko are pretty much archetypes of the same anime girls writers love to have in their self-insert fantasies. Ako is your studious, responsible, protective housewife sister. Riko is your tomboy, clever-but-charming sister. Both want to please Keita in any capacity.

Keita is more noteworthy. Growing up in an household environment where feeling up your sisters is not only acceptable but encouraged, he's spoiled, innocent (in a weird and off-putting way), and quite the hands-on learner.

Sound:

The opening and ending are both lathered in infectious melodies. For better or for worse, you'll have Kiss x Sis on your mind in one capacity or the other through the soundtrack. As for the the soundtracks throughout the episodes, they're nothing to write home about. The...other "noises" and "effects" that Kiss x Sis brings to the table are actually pretty good.

Animation:

Art style and animation are dead average. Not too good, but not terrible or weird looking by any stretch. Since the animation studio poured most of their budget into the longer ecchi sequences, all other scenes feel like an afterthought. But, that doesn't really detract from the anime, since all the scenes you'll probably care about is Keita getting adventurous with one of his sisters.

Enjoyment:

This is a difficult section to write. By now you're probably in one of three camps: "This guy REALLY enjoyed Kiss Sis", "this guy REALLY hates Kiss Sis", or "Just decide man, do you like this anime or not?" When I ask myself whether I truly liked Kiss x Sis, my nasty perverted side says "this anime was 10/10". But my normie, rational side says "this was a funny anime, but it's really disgusting and screwed up when you think about about it".

So, let me be as clear as possible: I hate the fact that I, overall, intensely enjoyed Kiss x Sis.

TL;DR 10/10, probably gonna watch again when I'm bored. Oh, and I should mention that this beautiful piece of media was aired on television.
