Review of Monster

Monster is one of the most psychologically complex and beautifully written piece of media I've ever seen. Johan is such an amazing villain, it's mind-blowing how big of an impact he has even when he's not on-screen. He has one of the most complex yet twisted way of thinking I've ever seen, making him a literal riddle as a character. His schemes are elaborate and mind-fuckery, to the point where it's psychologically tortorous and devastating. Story and characters are the two main highlight that reach its peak in this series. Tenma is a really likable character with amazing growth in his character and morality. Dudeis a straight up angel.

In fact, this series has a tendency of introducing a character that is really well-written and has such amazing developement. It's really rare for a show to get me excited everytime they introduce a new character, especially one-time characters. But Monster really did it amazingly. Major characters like Grimmer, Rudy Gillen, Dieter, Runge, Dr. Reichwein, Eva, And Nina are obviously amazing, likable and has a really interesting and brilliantly written story behind them, but even minor characters has such amazing story within them. Hugo and the little girl from episode 9, Dr. Schumman, Petra, and Heinz from episode 13, The couple from episode 20, Michael Muller from episode 21, Detective Suk, Martin Reest, Karl and Lotre. These are all great characters, ecen though some of them only has a major contribution for one episode. I've gone on a tangent about characters for a while but it's because this is an aspect I absolutely adore from this series.

Honestly nothing that I can say can really do justice to this anime series. It's a must-watch thriller, it's psychologically intense, it's absolutely devastating at times, and by god is it amazing.
