This review covers season 1 and 2 When you talk about badass chicks in any form of entertainment, Revy has to be at the top of the list. I mean it, no one kicks more ass then she does. Shes one of the reasons I love Black Lagoon so much. Okajima Rokuro is a businessmen who is constantly kicked around by his bosses. Rokuro really has no spine and at first, it threw me off a bit. One day his company sends him to the beautiful tropic seas of eastern China were he must deliver a disk. It gets worse for Rokuro when his boat getshijacked by a group of mercenaries, and becomes their hostage while the group try and discover whats on the disk. The group dubbed Rokuro, Rock, and with his new group of kidnappers, Rock and co. try to find out what is on the mysterious disk.

Black Lagoon is a good anime that looks great. I love the animation, it reminds me of the old school anime like Bebop and Outlaw Star. And thankfully, Rock grows on me, going from being a mediocre character, to probably the second best next to Revy. There are a lot of great action scenes, good looking fights and explosions. But what made it just a good anime, and not a great one was the lack of story. The fights and explosions covered up what was a weak story that ended in a dud. By the time Revy was done kicking every body's butt, and the team where done wiping out every opponent that stood in their way, when the story was resolved, I just didn't care. And when you got a lot of action and very little plot, it may make the anime look good, but it doesn't make it good.
