Slayers: The Book of Spells · review
Of all the Slayers stuff I've seen (and I've seen just about all of it throughout the years), this is the weakest I've encountered. None of the 3 standalone stories are particularly memorable, and while each does have some funny moments and ideas (the multiple Nagas in the first story, the insanely overprotective mother in the second, the meek shadows of Lina and Naga in the third), overall these just didn't have the same punch or charm of the other films and the TV series. The animation quality is honestly not that much better than the TV series, which is surprising given this obviously hasa higher budget. This definitely isn't objectively bad, but compared to how much fun the rest of the franchise is, these tales are a bit of a disappointment.
