Lots of ecchi, sci-fi comedic fun from the studio and many of the creators behind Tenchi Muyo. If you like the aesthetic of the Tenchi OVAs, then your eyeballs will definitely take a liking to what they're seeing here. In fact, even the tone and story in many ways mirrors Tenchi, with Photon, being the unassuming hero that all the girls end up falling in love with due to his bravery and selflessness. You know the famous hot springs episode of Tenchi? Was it one of your favorites? Well you'll be rolling around in this series like a pig in shit, then. It's basically naughtyTenchi, but retains all of the laughs and ridiculous situations that made Tenchi such a likable and iconic series.

And those naughty bits are actually some of the funniest moments in the series. Photon's little wee-wee is on display on occasion, and it's anything but offensive, and Papacharino (the villain of the series), who is a womanizing, sex-crazed maniac bent on world domination, is played for laughs and is honestly the most compelling character of the show. The tiny black dot they put over his crotch when he's running around naked is hilarious, and his blood-spouting face when he gets horny is simply ridiculous.

My one complaint is that the final episode takes a pretty damn serious tone, and I thought it felt out of place. Don't get me wrong, the comedy is still sprinkled throughout, but a lot of the episode takes on a dark tone that felt at odds with everything else. There's a new threat introduced in the final episode, and the threat is crazed and almost scary, something that would feel more at home in a horror anime than what, up until this episode, had been a light-hearted affair. I guess maybe it was done on purpose, to shock the viewer in a way, but it didn't wholly work on me.

But it doesn't ruin the series or anything, and I'd still give this one a high recommendation for fans of the look and feel of Tenchi Muyo, and anyone that just wants some gorgeously animated, slightly raunchy anime fun from the '90s.
