Review of Higurashi: When They Cry – Kai

If you know the future you can change fate, but for the rest of us, we can't. Higurashi Kai, the name rings music in my ears. I ASSUME, you have watched the first season, so I will continue now. The first season is usually considered superior to the second season, and I do admit the first season was excellent, but still at the end your left wondering, why all the different arcs and stuff? Higurashi Kai clears all of it up, and my god does it do it well. While Higurashi Kai isn't as messed up as the first season, it definitely does have it's moments. But now that I thinkabout it, I might like the second season better. Now each can't live without the other, but I have to give Higurashi Kai props. The first season does use it's fair amount of shocks to interest us, which is nice and all, but Higurashi Kai always leave me hanging off my seat, and it still isn't as gory.

But anyway, Higurashi Kai was not what I expected, I thought it would be simpler than it was, but no, it's much more complex and it was definitely a pleasant surprise.

As much as I'd love to give this a 10, it does have it's little nicks that downgrades it.
For example how now one else notices Rika talking to herself except Satoko, and that's only sometimes. Also how when they fight, MION DOESN'T USE HER DAMN GUN. I mean yeah I understand you don't wanna kill em, BUT IT'S SELF-DEFENSE.

Also after the first arc, which had an ending that made us go like,
"WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!?"
But then they just set aside about 4 episodes to develop the antagonist and the other characters and I just personally think it was out of place after the first arc.

But I was really happy with the ending, but also a little confused, but hey, now I have Higurashi Rei to watch.

But overall, if I were to combine the first and second season, it would be a 20/10, I love this series so much and I can't choose which season is better. It may just be my favorite series right now, I highly recommend to watch this amazing thriller, mystery, believe me, you won't regret it.
