Review of Waiting in the Summer
I have been watching anime for 17 years and have almost completely narrowed down the types of anime that I tend to like. I enjoy slice-of-life, romance, a little drama, and a little sci-fi/fantasy thrown in there. But, in the end, the thing that makes an anime great to me is that it leaves a lasting impression on me. There have been only a few anime in my life that have left me sitting there for hours afterwards, just thinking about how amazing it was (Clannad, Honey and Clover, Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Sword Art Online, etc.). Well, this has made my top 5 animelist. And trust me, I've seen a lot.
The characters are what makes the show so fantastic. They're emotional, funny, and make me so invested in what's going on. I started watching this show with an indifferent mindset. But, as soon as I got through a couple of episodes, I finished this 12 episode anime in a single sitting. I couldn't stop watching it. That never happens.
It is also a rather refreshing show as well. The relationship between the two main characters is so, well, non-anime like. Sure, it takes them a while to figure things out. But, when they do, they aren't embarrassed to be a couple. Usually in anime, they are too afraid to hold hands *coughCLANNADcough*. So, this really made me like this anime even more.
I really don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say any more. All I will say is: give this anime a chance. You won't regret it.
