Review of Black Butler
A while back I saw a clip from the show shown in English dub where two of the grim reapers were talking to each other, and I HATED the voices. I promised myself that when I watched the show, I'd watch the sub. So when I started watching the sub, I fell in love right away. Daisuke Ono is one of my favorite voice actors and he always does such a good job bringing his characters to life. While I was about eight episodes in the show, I went to stay with my cousins for a week. My older cousin saw me watching the showand asked if she could watch it too. Since she's not a fan of reading subtitles, I started the show over watching the dub. I was ready to die of agony from the obnoxious voice acting, but once we started watching, I fell in LOVE. This is one of the few anime where I believed the dub was far better than then sub - with the exception of a few characters. The accents that came along with the dub made the show seem more realistic, given the show takes place in England.
The plot was great. I loved how it unfolded and how everything went into play. Everything was explained clearly and smoothly so there wasn't a single time in the show where I was confused or bored.
The music was beautiful as well and really added to the ominous atmosphere the show created. I enjoyed each opening theme and ending theme so much that I downloaded them onto my phone and listen to them almost daily.
The art style was incredible and I absolutely adored Sebastian's design - so freakin sexy! Each character was lovable in their own way, making the show even more exciting to watch. I highly recommend this anime for anyone who loves demons, grim reapers, and HOT butlers!
