I finally finished watching Kokoro Connect and honestly it was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. I remember starting the first episode feeling like okay this is going to be just another high school anime, but by episode two I was already hooked. The concept of these random body swaps and weird emotional phenomena felt unique and honestly kind of unsettling in the best way. You can tell the writers really wanted to dig into what it means to truly understand someone else. I have to say Taichi as the main guy grew on me a lot. At first he seemed like your typical nice-guycharacter, but the way he reacts to each situation shows a surprising level of patience and thoughtfulness. I found myself rooting for him to just be able to handle all the emotional chaos the Heartseed keeps throwing at them. And Iori, she is such a fascinating character. Watching her slowly peel away her cheerful mask and confront her insecurities made me remember how easy it is to hide behind a front in real life. I definitely felt a lot of empathy for her. Inaba was a bit trickier for me. She is blunt and confident, sometimes to the point of being abrasive, but her honesty adds a lot of depth and tension. I had moments where I found her frustrating, but also respected her growth by the end.

The emotional moments hit harder than I expected. There were times when I literally felt my chest tighten watching someone struggle to admit how they truly feel. The series does a good job of balancing humor with drama, which kept it from feeling like it was dragging. That said, not every episode landed perfectly for me. A couple of the mid-series episodes felt a bit repetitive with the phenomena and internal monologues, and I wished some secondary characters got a bit more screen time or development.

Visually the show is solid, nothing mind-blowing but clean and expressive. The soundtrack deserves a mention too; it really captures the mood, whether it’s lighthearted club banter or tense emotional confrontations.

Overall I would give Kokoro Connect a 7 out of 10. It is definitely worth watching if you like high school settings mixed with psychological and emotional exploration. I loved the moments that made me stop and think about myself and my friendships. It may not be perfect, but it left a strong impression, and I actually found myself reflecting on it for a few days after finishing. It is one of those shows that makes you feel the awkwardness, joy, and vulnerability of being young and human.
