I don't see Bakemonogatari as a complete anime, but rather a perfect set up to one of the best series' in anime. It is not for everyone; nonetheless, any veteran anime watcher should have heard about the Monogatari series. The story starts of slow and takes a different approach on everything you know about supernatural anime. Our MC Arararararararararararararararagi brandishes a pen rather than a sword(even though there's a sword...) for the direction of his problem solving, which gives the watcher-reader a more in-depth comprehension on the situation. The show implements a large amount of metaphors and fast pop-upsto keep you interested while slowly progressing through the conflicts. 7/10, because it is very hard to get into but very worth it.

Shaft's art and sound is the best. By taking out the background characters, you focus on the conversions easier. The music is fitting for each scene and I have no complaints in these catagories. 10/10

The characters drive the show. If you don't find Koyomi interesting than the show may not be for you (different POV's are taken the the second season, however). Each girl is likeable and they're interesting in their own right. 10/10

I did not enjoy the series for the first few arcs, and its a pain to watch multiple in order (until you're engulfed in the brilliance).

Overall, 84/100, a great show that is a welcome change to other supernatural shows and definately worth it for any seasoned anime watchers.
