Review of Natsume's Book of Friends

this is my favorite anime. I think the only reason why some people hate it is because it's literally a SOL (Slice of Life) meaning that it's kinda pointless and has no plot other than just following natsume's (the protagonist) life. The anime just gives you peeks into an odd boy's life and his development of personality. Sometimes, it's heartwarming; sometimes, it's sad. Either way, there's no "goal." In action anime, the protagonist has to defeat an antagonist, in romance, the characters have to end up together (not always) but in slices of lives, it's basically just drifting around in an empty room. But otherthan that, let's get to the real review:

Story: When I first read the title a couple months back, I honestly thought it was going to be the most boring thing I'd ever seen, but it was summer and I had nothing to do, so I gave it a shot. Basically, Natsume was born with the power to see youkai (spirits) and he was ostracized for it. The whole anime tells of his development in personality as well as human AND youkai relationships. The first episode gave off a melancholic feeling.

Art: When I first watched it, I was not impressed. I had just came here from really high graphic'd animes and I was expecting the same, but as I kept watching the series, the simple look grew on me. I can't imagine it any other way now.

Sound: I remember when I first watched it, I used to skip the OPs and EDs, but months later, they're all I listen to.

Character: All of the characters here will always have a place in my heart, 'nuff said.

Enjoyment: As I said, I'm really biased and I personally loved it a lot. I rewatch it all the time. 10/10

Overall, I'd rate it a 9, only lacking in the art and animation (at first. The fifth season art is AMAZING)
