For those curious in seeing the truncated film release of Oshii’s intellectual masterpiece Gosenzo-sama, it’s one of those recap movies that keeps all the scenes communicating the movement of the plot but leaves anything else to be cut. Inumaru’s desperate monologue in front of the door, Bannei’s tirade against ‘possibility’, the Guard Dog of Time performance scene, all gone. I’m not sure why this series got a film release, I imagine the OVA’s didn’t sell amazingly considering it being an arthouse anime with little marketability, perhaps they thought it could recuperate costs. As for changes, Imumaru’s dialogue at the soba stand from OVA 6 nowis used as a framing device for each of the previous episodes, Kawai’s credit songs were edited to end prematurely, a gong sound effect was added when Kinekuni drops the nabe pot on his head, and I believe an extra fart sound effect was added somewhere. There’s maybe other changes but as you see they are miniscule.
