Obscenely overrated piece of dog turd. *spoilers ahead* Story: The majority of the drama between the characters until episode 7 or 8 can be solved simply by Menma moving something, which she has been able to do but inexplicably held back from doing since ep 1 because the plot demands it. This drawn out "conflict" between the characters was completely artificial and unnecessary, padding out the show's runtime with fake drama to give the characters a reason to "develop" when there is actually none. As a result, everything that happens from that point onwards lost all emotional impact for me. When you realize that your emotions have justbeen squeezed out of you through such a cheap trick, the sanctity of that emotion is completely lost; It doesn't mean anything anymore, and you sink into apathy.

The finale was also quite laughable, in which all of the characters' emotional "problems" are solved just by getting them all together and having a crying party. I really can't bring myself to give a damn about Menma by this point because she has already been reduced to a cheap unexplained plot device that the writer shoehorned in to scam you out of your precious emotions.

Also, the show made me suspend my disbelief a bit too far when it wanted to me believe that after 10 years, these kids are still acting as if Menma just died last week. 10 fucking years is a REALLY long time. And realistically, most people would have moved on from the death of a loved one to a reasonable extent, to a point where they can function in society without being emotionally crippled like Anohana's cast of retarded kids. Episode 11 is the peak of this retardation, in which all of their emotional scars are healed just by them bawling like little bitches into the sunset as a fading ghost/cheap plot device of Menma waves them goodbye. It's not that fucking sad. Get over it.

TLDR: This anime doesn't know when to fucking move on - not unlike its own cast of dipshit characters - and instead chooses to waddle around in a pool of its own shit and piss for 3/4 of its runtime.

Art:

One of Kyoani's best projects tbh

Sound:

The opening is really dope.

Characters:

lol

Enjoyment:

Ehhh I liked the music and art

Overall:

5/10 would laugh my ass off when Matsuyuki cross-dressed as Menma again.
