Review of Food Wars! The Fourth Plate
Story 9/10 The fourth season continues and then concludes the battle between Soma Erina’s rebel forces and the totalitarian Central for control over Totsuki academy we get some really exciting action with shokugeki after shokugeki with the best students competing against each other with Soma, Erina and their friends having to overcome the odds if they are to save their school. Art 8/10 This is still very good with quality artwork for the food and the characters. Sound 9/10Sound remains a strong area of Food Wars in particular the voice acting which explains the events of the show so well.
Characters 10/10
Characters have been the strength of Food Wars and in the fourth season we got to learn more about the other characters from the elite ten and they added something to the season. Soma and Erina as well as Megumi remain as the brilliant base of the show though.
Enjoyment 9/10
An enjoyable but extremely tense series of episodes as Soma, Erina and Co face tough battle after tough battle with Central determined to stop them and willing to use every trick in the book. One issue that I found with the previous season is that with the constant Shokugeki’s the humour is not at the same level and that humour is replaced with increased drama.
There are no cooldown episodes here either and I felt that these were a real strength in some of the earlier seasons.
Overall 9/10
