I remember Kinnikuman as airing on Toonami in the early 2000s when I was around 10, under the name 'Ultimate Muscle', and thought I could use this series as a jumping off point to get back into it (or get into it for the first time, really). This episode 0 clearly is attempting to serve as a kind of quick recap of the original series for anyone who hasn't seen it in some time, and while I can assume it does that quite capably, for someone who hasn't seen much of the original series, it kind of feels like someone explaining a long and involveddream to you. Much of it feels like it only makes sense to the person who had the dream (or watched the original series). I now kind of understand how my girlfriend feels when I try to recap Chainsaw Man to her.

That being said, the episode did flaunt a lot of very gaudy and interesting looking characters, lots of insane storylines, and a promise for more. I'm planning to watch the Perfect Origin Arc next, but this episode does make me wonder if I am losing out on not going and watching the 100 or so episodes of the original series. If someone did watch this episode, and decide not to continue with Kinnikuman in any way, I would totally understand though.
