Review of Horimiya
I dunno, i really liked the 1st episode, and it was all good up to like episode 5 when they officially got together. But then instead of focusing on their relationship, they started showing other couples and having them get together(or not) Now don't get me wrong, i wouldn't usually mind that, but in an anime titled after the names of the 2 main characters i was expecting to see way more of those 2. Sure, we got some more, but even that was underdeveloped, like the whole proposal thing that was treated as it never even happened! It's like the creators ofsuch work are afraid of having more than some high school romance and for the life of me i can't understand why that is.
Miyamura and Hori are such a good couple, it's a total waste that they got less screen time during the 2nd half....i wanna see them go to college, get married, have kids, do stuff that we don't see in 99/100 romance anime...
Oh i forgot to add, Hori was such a "mom" in episode 1, taking care of her brother, doing the house work, but later on her mom started being home more often for some reason, right? Then we mostly saw her masochistic side - wanting to be slapped and talked dirty to, it's like instead of becoming more mature she became more of a child....
And Miyamura in episode 1 was so frigging cool, but after maybe 2 episodes he stopped using the pierces, we never even saw him dress in black like in the first episode, right?
Not to mention his hair...now i only watched it once and i'm no master but why was he out dressed like that in the first place? Did he seem like the sort of guy who'd wonder the streets dressed as a punk, or was he dressing like that at home too? And when did that start? Kinda seems like they added that just to have a convenient starting point but didn't really think of a back story for it, right?
All in all, this felt like watching a great movie -say Joker - but instead of being 2 hours long it's 4 hours and it has a lot of scenes that aren't pivotal to the main plot. Just having a longer movie doesn't mean it's a better movie, especially if it deviates from the main plot, right?
Overall, i did enjoy watching it, and for a romance anime it was very good, but it could have been so much better.
