I'm not a fan. Made it through one volume and decided this was definitely not for me. I got this volume in a manga blind-bag. I definitely wouldn't have intentionally picked it for myself... But that's kind of the point of these blind-bags. Trying something new and different. Unfortunately this one wasn't a win. As the title suggests - this story follows a woman knight and her young beastkin apprentice. It's got kind of a slice-of-life thing going on. There's not a ton of actual monster-hunting going on. It's mostly the two of them training and hanging out aroundthe house and things like that. It's not really my cup of tea... But it's kind of cozy. Kind of cute.
There's some really neat artwork going on. The lady knight's got some fantastic armor. Some of the monsters that show up look incredible. There's some real talent and imagination on display.
The problem, for me, was the fanservice-y bits. I'm broadly ok with fanservice... But the juxtaposition with this very young beastkin boy was very uncomfortable. Felt awkward and creepy. Didn't quite descend into outright shota, but felt like it was skirting the line a few times. Didn't enjoy it.
