I love Goemon. He's my favourite Lupin the Third character, so having a movie all about him is a bit of a dream come true and undoubtedly colours my opinion of this film. I will start off by saying don't bother watching this if you haven't seen the last one (Jigen's Gravestone) because the story is almost a direct follow on. You can probably get away with not watching it but I wouldn't suggest it. As a Lupin adventure this one is very, different. Its A LOT more violent and some scenes are extraordinarily graphic. The list of injuries Goemon accrues is second only to the numberof other people's limbs he chops off.
Goemon's training scenes are actually pretty good, we get to see him struggle with his defeat and need to reclaim his Samurai honour. Though this comes at a cost that we don't get much of Lupin, even less of Jigen and Fujiko is only present for I think two scenes.
