Review of Parasyte: The Maxim

Don't need to explain too much why this show is so great. It does a good job of exploring a deep topic in "what does it mean to be human" while providing entertaining elements like action, comedy, sci-fi, and romance. The mix of genres from Parasyte will allow any viewer to get invested in the series right away, which is why I recommend this anime often. Plot-wise, I was floored by the development of a few characters and unlike many series, the MC was fleshed out thoroughly. The cast is not super expansive which plays to the strengths of this series. And I like how self-containedthe plot and world-building were, which allowed the series to focus on its main themes.

Some things I was not keen on were a specific love triangle and a few moments where side characters would spell out the main themes of the story. I believe this series was so close to being a masterpiece but the weaknesses made a few instances uninteresting. However, the positives of this series far outweighs the negatives, which is why it is well deserving of a 9/10.
