Review of Recovery of an MMO Junkie

Hey folks, this will be a review for Net-juu no Susume. Honestly it wasn't bad, but wasn't great. The story revolves around Moriko and Yuuta. Moriko was a business woman who decided to quit her job and become a NEET. While living the stay at home life she discovers a new mmo as the one she used to play is no longer available. Yuuta is a business man who works and finds time to play the same mmo as Moriko. Most of the episodes revolve around them talking in the mmo world with their gender reversed characters. When they are not on the game talkingthey are coincidentally outside bumping into each other and spinning this fake feeling string of fate story line.

The main characters have some good moments, but both of them feel a bit too tailored for this story. Moriko is super self conscious and apologetic all the time. She only ever shines in the mmo world. This is a cool plot point but after awhile its just repetition. It goes from feeling genuine to "how can we possibly drag this encounter out so nothing comes from it". Yuuta is the insanely loyal and thoughtful other half of the story. Sometimes he can be incredibly forward and brave, then other times falter and turn the confession moment into something else.

Overall it was a fun watch, but it becomes a bit taxing as the episodes continue. They are really heavy handed with the "will they discover each other" story line. It takes far too long to progress as is, but they take steps to elongate this silly plot. They decide to add in some side characters which both help and hinder the main characters discovering one another. Add this to the already timid characters and an anime that could have wrapped up in 5 episodes lasts 10.

TLDR: Fun watch, but they go out of their way to stretch the story thin.
