Does watching thirsty beta males and arrogant high school sluts interact sound like fun? Sometimes you just have to force yourself to watch a bad anime for the sole purpose of warning others about it. Hajimete no Gal is the epitome of everything wrong with male and female relationships when both parties are inexperienced and clueless. You get these ridiculous characters that make you cringe in disappointment every time they do anything. The saddest part is you don't even want to see the guys in this show get laid, because they are so annoyingly beta that they don't deserve it. This type of character is OKas a gag character, the problem with this anime is it takes this to the point of absurdity. Dudes completely flip out and drop their pants at the slightest hint of female attention. It happens so often ( As in once every 30 seconds ) that it isn't funny, it's just boring. You can only repeat the same joke every so often before it's no longer a joke and just becomes a liability to the story.

The biggest problem with this anime is that it just isn't entertaining. This trope has been done before hundreds of thousands of times and far better. HnG tries to be original by making the female characters more realistic, but the result just makes them unlikable since they still obey the generic rules of romcom Anime IE fawning over an irritatingly weak and equally unlikable male MC.

I could give this a longer review, but to be frank this show just doesn't deserve one. It's generic. The characters are boring. It's hackneyed attempt at originality for including a "gal" is pathetic and not even done correctly. There's no plot. It's a bad show period.
