Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is the only anime I’ve ever given a 10/10 rating, and it absolutely deserves it. Every aspect is flawless, from the music and visuals, to the storytelling and character development. I can’t emphasize enough how incredible the soundtrack is, composed by Evan Call. The fantasy-inspired OST immerses the audience fully into the world — from the laid-back, reflective moments of Frieren’s journey to the intensity of its combat scenes. The music alone elevates the entire experience. Each character in this show has realistic and understandable ideals. No one feels annoying or unnecessary — everyone has a purpose, and every character contributes meaningfullyto the story’s progression and emotional depth.

The background art is absolutely top-tier. The watercolor technique used for background art creates a timeless, immersive atmosphere, it genuinely feels like you're living in their era.

As for the animation, it’s some of the best I’ve seen across the hundreds of anime I’ve watched. The movement is fluid, expressive, and incredibly detailed. Even the smallest of their movement are animated with a high frame rate and care, showing no signs of budget limitations or shortcuts.

The storytelling is simple, straightforward, and highly effective. It avoids being either overly simplistic or needlessly confusing/complex. The pacing is also perfect — not too slow, not too rushed. It gives each moment the space it needs to resonate.

I laughed, I cried, and I was deeply moved by their journey. Watching this anime is an experience I will never regret. I have nothing but absolute respect for the entire team behind this beautiful production.
