This manga paints a dreamy picture of dorm life, a stark contrast to reality. In most cases, roommates are just acquaintances. After all, we'll probably lose touch after graduation. It's like, even if you're roommates who do everything together, you'll barely text each other during breaks. This makes the life depicted in this manga seem so idyllic and innocent. Iwasaki Haruka is undoubtedly a great character with a bit of a 'damsel in distress' vibe, similar to Kawaragi Momoka from Girls Band Cry (although that work predates GBC by far). Irisu Yumi's character, on the other hand, is very much in line with the protagonists ofIshiguro Masakazu's other works.
To fully grasp the story, some understanding of East Asian cultural context is necessary to comprehend the underlying social background.
If you're a fan of Ishiguro Masakazu, you're likely to enjoy this short story. However, if you're not a fan of stories with a mundane, slightly bumpy plot and characters who exude a strong sense of being 'losers,' then this work might not be for you.
