Review of Castle in the Sky
When I was little, I watched that movie everytime it was on TV. I couldn't read back then but the picture told me, that it's THAT movie. THAT movie with the floating island. THAT movie with the robots. THAT movie with this wonderful music. THAT movie which showed me the way to the world of anime. All emotions a human could have are compremised in that movie: Friendship, sadness, hate, sorrow, surprise, joy, jealousy, rage, but especially love. It's amazing, how much old and young can learn from two children about love in this movie. I enjoyed literally everything, but I don't think that that'sa surprise in case of Miyazaki's movies.
The art is ofc worse compared to e.g. Violet Evergarden but we all have to keep in mind that the movie is from the 80s and for that time, it's absolutely outstanding.
The most wonderful thing about this movie is, that the visualy, the music, the art style and the characters create their very own realistic world and you simply feel, that people live there and that this world isn't just the backround. It's a part of a big, big puzzle, making a wonderful anime movie.
Masterpiece.
