Review of Monster
- A fantastic psychological story of human cruelty & the monsters within. - Extremely slow pace that prevented me from getting invested properly. - Neatly written complex characters with each depicting different themes leading up to the singular tone of the series. Tenma, in particular, is the standout. - Thematically, the storytelling process was phenomenal. Felt like a tangle of strings being unraveled as we witness morale justifications through the acts of human-beings & monsters alike. Credits to the mangaka in particular. - Fantastic OST's, coupled with brilliant cinematography, setting up the tone of the series. - Felt really overdramatic at times. - The "perfect suicide" plan felt very awkward tome. If Johan wanted Tenma to live his life in despair and no recognition with the horrible memory & leaving no traces of Johan whatsoever, what was particularly supposed to happen to Nina then? You could argue "psychopath" but still it's awkward to me.
- Decent animation.
- Final 10 episodes or so were straight up fire.
- Extremely strong climax that was built up well throughout.
- First & the last episodes were one of the best first & last episodes I've ever seen!
