Tokyo Fears Rhapsody · review
Kind of feels like it's trying too hard to ride off of the wave of every other big series, without really doing anything to differentiate itself. There is potential here, but it hasn't used much of it so far. I don't like drawing direct comparisons in reviews, but the main character feels almost 1:1 to Chainsaw Man's Denji, in motivation and personality. I could see a really fun story here, except every chapter feels like something I've already read somewhere else. The manga moves at a breakneck pace, but hasn't really used that speed to establish any important story. Not every series NEEDS to constantly dropexposition, but I find it really hard to care about anything going on so far.
The art is solid, and I don't mean to dump on it since it's only around 19 chapters in. I hope I get to see this series figure out what it wants to do in the future
