Soulmate Adventure · review
Constant wuxia action interspersed with Yuxiu and Linger being cute together. It's awesome. The fight scenes (--and there are a lot of them--) are beautifully choreographed and animated, with fluid movements which portray a lot of martial arts skill in the combatants. There's a lot of kung fu magic like float-jumping on roofs and there is a lot of interaction with the terrain and background objects which makes the fight very mobile and dynamic. There's an emphasis on hand to hand combat, but also features swords, spears, meteor hammers, and staves. The main characters have some great chemistry. Feng Linger is a rude but charming scoundrel andBai Yuxia is noble, polite, and kind. They can learn a lot from each other, as Yuxia teaches Linger to be less uncouth and more moral, and Linger teaches Yuxia to be less sheltered. If you are looking for yuri, you won't be displeased as they spend a lot of time holding hands or sitting on rooftops gazing at stars, or checking each other out, when they aren't rescuing each other.
The story is decent and puts the characters in a lot of action. It does a good job showing, rather than telling what the audience needs to know. It withholds the right amount to keep me interested. It sprinkles additional background in at the right time.
