Though I don't see SAO as a living masterpiece of the anime industry, I can recognize its worth. I mean, it's a story about a VMMORPG. Not isekai, but... a virtual world. Back into 2012 and before, when MMORPG were the absolute thing, we've always wondered ourselves: "how it would be if we were transported to this world?" SAO came and did this. And following it, a huge mass of other stories involving isekai and game stuff came on, though only a few of them are decent. Besides the nostalgia factor (I remember coming home from school and watching a new episode, hearing Crossing Fields), Ithink this anime has many negative points, but positive ones too.

It wanted us to feel what is like to be in a virtual world. The music is great. The scenarios, the colors... but when it comes to plot, there's a few holes - and the light novels try to correct that. There's unexplained things and "deus ex machina"-like events. I didn't like Kirito at all. He's OP. His appearance served as the "random male character for almost every anime" from 2012 and on.

Characters have no good development. They are cool and all but... it's not like "oh, I see myself on him/her!" There's, however, villains you start to hate and want them to suffer.

I give it a 7/10.
Good and enjoyable.
