Review of Horimiya
This anime has great music. It also has great art and a silly feel to it. I think that silliness is what a viewer should expect out of a school romance anime. The characters are all really funny. The side characters got some development, but the lack of resolution for all of them causes their development to fall flat. Izumi is one of the title characters of the anime, yet you never really get much development out of him. His gloomy background is glossed over, and there is never really any mention of his parents which takes away from the immersion. I imagine if aschool boy were spending as much time as he did away from home, it would create some turmoil with his family, but that is never shown. All of the development of the two main characters occurs at Hori's house, which is great because her parents are hilarious, but it causes the resolution to fall flat.
I think it's so bad that it's good, and I loved it. You know how it will end from the first episode, but the journey there is enjoyable. The biggest fault in the show for me was Hori's kink. That was really jarring, and after the few episodes where it's featured, it's dropped like it's hot. The soundtrack is making its way into my music folder for sure.
