Review of Dan Da Dan
An expressively fun display of animated creativity that is hindered by source material containing unnecessary tropes, tonal whiplash, and inconsistent levels of writing. It is disappointing that genuinely compelling moments, like the endearing character interactions and the devastatingly beautiful seventh episode, are presented alongside some unpleasant content. The problem is that certain mature scenes never address their severity, are unwarranted, and provide no value to the narrative. Nonetheless, the animation is truly spectacular and demonstrates great fight choreography, creative perspectives, and excellent consistency. If you can overcome the needlessly uncomfortable inclusions, you might find something in Dandadan. Regardless, you will know after the first episode.
