Review of Ya Boy Kongming!
Paripi Koumei is one of those feel-good series that transcends fandoms. Even though I dislike music anime in general, I gave this show a shot after hearing its catchy OP, and from episode 1 I was hooked. Although I didn't finish it in one go, I did 4 stints of 3 episodes each, which may be a better watch to watch this show, to allow the good vibes to sink in over time. This reminded me of Yofukashi no Uta in how it left me feeling every time I watched it. A really good vibe episode to episode, that is worththe 4 hours. It also gave me Hikaru no Go vibes as well, Kongming resembles Sai, and the character growth of Eiko and Hikaru are strong points of both animes. The manga status reads "publishing", so I hope there is a contunation not too far down the road.
Animation 8/10
- Not super action based with the singing, but the colors, characters and environments are all done well.
Sound 8/10
- The music is great, the OP is great, the voice acting is pretty good as well.
Story 7/10
- It's a basic premise of Eiko growing into her musical persona, and gaining "populace", which is endearing to watch.
Characters 7/10
- All the characters are solid, but being 12 eps, most lack a lot of depth. Our main cast being Kongming and Eiko are great.
Enjoyment 8/10
- This is a super easy to watch anime, and I would love to see more.
I would recommend this to those seeking that easy going anime experience.
