Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
I initially planned to drop Frieren after the second episode, but considering its high rating, I decided to keep watching, hoping the "masterpiece" everyone praised would reveal itself—but it never did. The show started very slow, which I didn’t mind. However, Frieren's personality feels artificial, the group's dynamic comes across as shallow, and knowing that Frieren is an introvert, her tendency to think out loud and voice her monologues feels performative. Instead of giving us time to connect with the characters, the show merely showcases their adventures as fleeting flashes of memories. I could already predict where this was headed in the following episodes. Iendured the shallow character interactions, only to find nothing that kept me invested in the characters.
