Review of Monster
MINOR SPOILERS BELOW I understand why most people are underwhelmed by the ending. What I understood during the course of the show was that, Monster is more about the journey, the character growth and connections they make than an extravagant finale. The show gives various opportunities for viewers to relate and retrospect on human philosophies and dilemmas, which was compelling. Since the character development outweighs the final resolve, I couldn’t subtract my points. It’s still a great anime. I agree that I felt let down with the ending and the rationale explaining it from a logical perspective but the buildup was fantastic. I don’t find any plausibleexplanation as to why Johan must be forgiven. I can’t be convinced. But I’m willing to overlook that for how much I enjoyed watching the show.
It's not a bad ending, just not a great one.
