Review of Haibane Renmei
Haibana Renmei is the wannabe copy of Bungaku Shoujo series. I decided to watch this because of the hype everyone has made for it since decades. to say the least, I'm happy that I've binge watched it without wasting more time. by episode 6, I actually felt like I will sleep because of the pacing. many people have already written that nothing much happens and I completely agree with them. to put it simply you watch the whole show waiting for something to happen. some conflict to happen but nothing really happens. there are a couple of depressed teenagers who have a difficult past. again,we are assuming that their past is difficult because everything is symbolism.
because she fell, we are assuming that she committed suicide or because she was on a rail track. we are assuming that it was a suicide again. because of that she's stuck and now it is considered a sin. I get it. we are supposed to be sad by these things. and in the era that this anime came out maybe it was supposed to be some mind. boggling philosophy shit.
but there is no escape if you do not actually get into the conversation you're trying to lead. if they are depressed you need to show me how they are depressed or what are the effects of being depressed. on one hand you are making yuzu camp and on the other you are trying to be osamu dazai. pick a lane.
somehow I'm still pushing myself to write this review once and for all so that later on if someone comes backs and tell me that. oh no how great this was. I can serve this review as a reminder to how shit it was. a complete waste of time and a complete waste of money for the production house.
the time that they spent on advertising this at some Elite philosophy anime they should have spent that time in training for good writing.
