A Place Further than The Universe is Madhouse giving Kyoto Animation a run for their money when it comes to anime about cute girls doing cute things. Now right away let me inform you that this show is so much more than cute girls doing cute things. A Place Further than The Universe is an incredibly beautiful anime that tells the coming of age story of four girls that take a ridiculous leap of faith to go on an exposition trip to Antarctica. This show heavily leans on the dynamic between Shirase, Hinata, Yuzuki, and Mari, and it pays off extremely well because the dialogueis well written and the voice actresses gave such a believable performance of these characters being genuine friends. The animation of this anime is fairly simple with highlights just being white, but the simple designs are still designed very well and each character is distinct in one way or another. There are several tear jerking moments, one in each episode in fact, and those moments are only amplified when the soundtrack cranks up a beautiful song that manipulates you to cry. I highly recommend this show if you can find the time, it's personally my favorite anime of 2018 and just think it's beautiful.
