Review of A Place Further Than The Universe
Where I once would fear the cost of stagnation, now I only ask: What is the cost of development? Without music, life would be a mistake. With overdosed music, life would be imperfect. What makes Sorayori great makes it bleak. The superstars can disappear if they wish. And here she is. Overall: 81The Screenplay: 77
The anime defines a specific world from the outset vividly with high efficiency. I was entangled when episode 1 ends. Some love gradually grows. You find it boring for a long time. Suddenly, you can't get rid of it. Sorayori is not one of them. I'm sure it's for everyone, whatever the background. The theme is about a journey to Antarctica. I've never been there. I believe most of you, too. All I know about Antarctica is from David Altenburg or discovery. Antarctica is a "Utsukushii Zankoku Na Sekai". It's a beautiful and cruel world. Sorayori is full of authenticity and reliability. The anime flows like a stream. Though they aren't dangerous, I wondered what will happen to Shirase's broken heart. Will the loneliest girl find her inner peace?
I'm not surprised by the end. It's a typical road movie and school life, of course, without school. Everyone got what they deserve. You will, too. The anime is amusing. The journey is dangerous. But Joshi Kosei is invincible no matter what they encountered.
The anime is more than just what happened. It's about human nature. Seven Worlds, One Planet, is a glorious documentary about ours home. The power inside Sir David is here, too. Even the most ardent anti-environmentalist would shrivel. Human is the ends, not the means. Did anything change from 1 billion ends to 70 billion ends? Humans need the planet, not the other way around.
Where I once would fear the cost of stagnation, now I only ask: What is the cost of development?
Character: 77
Characters are not complex, predictable, and believable. For an anime veteran, four girls may come from other anime you've watched. I care about them. Especially Shirase and Yuzuki.
Black Straight Long rules. Shirase is the focus of the Japanese high school to no man land. Spiritually, the quality of being loyal to yourself at any cost is remarkable. Out of strong comes sweetness. There is the soul of an amazon warrior under the skin of a Joshi Kosei. Gorgeous. Yukino lovers, assemble! Pay attention to Shirase. You'll fall in love again.
Yuzuki is memorable. What's more, loved by many, they're usually desperately alone. From Shirley Temple to Macaulay Culkin, to live under the pressure of highlights is breathtaking for an educated adult. What about the children? In Japan and South Korea, child artists are younger than elsewhere. To quote Andy Warhol: In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes. The cost of being famous young is to socialized incompletely, which is the fundamental goal for childhood. The story of Yuzuki is prominent. I hope you enjoy it, too.
I might not be objective with Mari. One of my fetishes is to make fun of stupid girls. It's fun to see them get tricked. Mari is so cute. And what happened to her is so amusing with the voice of Inori Minase! All the fan of Inorin, forgive for my malicious, please.
CVs are completely into their roles. As a fervent Ayaneru lover, what Kana Hanazawa means for me is more than a voice actress. She is the default female voice. Ayaneru can't stop admiring her, too. To work with her in Psycho-Pass is like in heaven.
There is magic inside Inori Minase. She is the highlight when she speaks as a protagonist or as an assistant role. I cover my ears and plug off earphones. Her voice is there. Among all the four versions of both Kokokara and One Step, her versions top the list twice.
The performance of Saori Hayami is surprising. There are similarities between Yuzuki and Yukino. The key is the nuance. Good Seiyuu get things done the same way. Master Seiyuu get things done the same way ostensibly. Oh, it's her. Suddenly, you forgot who she is. Yes. The superstars can disappear if they wish. And here is Saori Hayami.
It's the first character of Iguchi Yuka I've known. Her voice is unique and memorable. In the chorus, her voice is highly distinguishable. I'll pay more attention to her.
Production Design: 87
Cinematography: 87
The production design is at the top level in the industry. The colors are intrusive, garish, and obvious. Sometimes the anime world is too beautiful to be true. Sorayori is definitely at the balance point. A little bit romantic or realistic would boil down. Characters are charming. Their hair and makeup are beautiful.
The frame is artificially composed and systemized. The image looks slick and smooth. I watched in 48fps. It would be better at higher frame rates.
I'm not strange to MADHOUSE after watched almost all of Kon Satoshi. It's the second TV series. The first is Paranoia Agent. I felt terrible about it. Sorayori is an antidote. I will continue my journey.
Editing: 78
I was with the anime from the start. It takes me where it promised it would go. I was swamped for most of the time. Unlike the penguin walking, anime movies like a wind. The motive of the characters is reasonable. The characters' emotions make sense based on their experience and behavior. They are together physically and mentally since they met. The whole journey is seamless.
Occasionally, there are stops and starts ungracefully and artificially.
Sound and Music: 78
The sound effects were an enhancement. The anime sound true. I feel embraced like Shirase by penguins. The music help tie the whole anime together. Sometimes it's musical-like. The ending song is one of the best.
The Girls Are Alright!: 75
Kokokara, Kokokara: 90
--- Cons ---
Without music, life would be a mistake. With overdosed music, life would be imperfect. What makes Sorayori great makes it bleak.
There is a lethal problem: The featured song had overdosed like drug addicts. Two songs rang one by one with no rest. Sometimes when characters say nothing, it's fine. Most times, it's disastrous when the voice of the featured song mixed with the dialogue.
Why isn't there a piano, guitar, or orchestral version of the featured songs? The soundtrack is high quality. Any of them would fit more. I tolerated the mediocre creators. What angered me the most is the lack of trust. Why can't you trust your audience? Sometimes it's better to say nothing. Without texts, you've got these sort of subliminal symbols in there, subliminal signifiers that we got to pick up on.
--- Cons ---
Directing: 80
The director demonstrates fluency and command with the medium. Anime reflect ambition and vision beyond simply recording performances. The aesthetic choices within the anime pleasing, satisfying, appropriate for the material. The perspective changed from characters to characters. The anime is idiosyncratic and unique.
Atsuko Ishizuka, another famous female director. I added her to my list behind Namako Yamada. OL is as difficult in Japan as the girl in Antarctica. We need more of them.
