Review of Astra Lost in Space
This is not just a typical sci-fi about space travel in far future. It has everything needed to be considered a masterpiece – great story, character development, sense of reality, drama, lot of mysteries, and this whole package is enriched with the addition of good quality laughs. Besides survival elements and objective to get home, there are a lot of mysteries surrounding our heroes (how it is possible they got so much luck to find a functioning spaceship? Who is the traitor among them?) Eventually, everything will be answered, which creates great satisfaction when the story concludes. All characters are unique along with different traits, behaviors, skillsand backstory each of them told. All of them get their dedicated story section one at a time. From the art perspective, they also have very memorable character design and voices. Great artstyle overall.
The show is heavy on drama and also very funny. But sometimes, when we get a very dramatic scene, there comes really inappropriate joke that ruins the drama. Probably for comedy relief purposes, but for some people (like me), it may leave somewhat bitter aftertaste.
Approaching the end, with all the remaining pieces of puzzle to be still resolved, it gets a bit complicated. One might end up being confused with all sudden revelations. Still, it is only a minor issue. The only way to avoid such confusion is to pay extra attention on everything that is said.
This is a must watch. Give this show a try regardless of your preferences.
Pros:
+ character development and design
+ mysteries
+ satisfying conclusion
Cons:
- many events and revelations happening at the end, making it harder to follow
Double-edged:
+/- sudden change from dramatic event to comedy/joke may tick with some people
10/10 (MASTERPIECE)
