I was unfortunately late to the Haruhi wave back in the late 2000s. When I did watch it, I found it entertaining, but never really got the appeal. Most of the characters were likable enough, with the exception of the titular character. I really liked the movie, and that's about it. My rating of this series defies logic. I cannot explain why I find it so charming, despite having watched so many of the dime-a-dozen romcom slop. Something about how the high-concept, sci-fi adventures of the original show happening in parallel to such a small, simple, and wholesome world felt so endearing. . .
