Review of Devilman: Crybaby
Being someone who has specific tastes on anime, this anime is one that has exceeded a lot of my expectations. First off, the story is strong and has a clear beginning and end, this is different from most shows that are out now as they like dragging on making a story that just never ends. Another thing is characters. Characters are not invincible, so if a character makes a mistake consequences erupt, and die quite brutal deaths. Characters are constantly growing and also portray a multitude of human emotions that aren't seen commonly in most anime. Other things such as the soundtrack is good because whensituations arise, they are used appropriately and to a degree that is effective. Other things such as the art style is that is psychedelic and over the top with sexual and violent themes which is uncommon in anime today.
Overall, this anime is not for everyone, it's an acquired taste for those who want something fresh for the season that is not "moe", "imouto" or "isekai". This is an anime similar to an age for people who liked Ghost In The Shell or Akira, a very mature and violent anime geared towards adults.
