Review of Dorohedoro
I really, really did not expect this show to catch me as it did. Let me start by saying, I initially dropped this show after episode 1, but came back to it recently after reading good things, which turned out to be a great decision. I know CGI is a big issue for a lot of people, myself included, but it compliments this show's style perfectly along with the 2D scenes they include. None of the fights ever felt stiff in my opinion and weren't held back by the CGI. The characters are easily the best part of this series, they're set up in ways that neverportray them as a complete villain or hero, and have their strengths and weaknesses. I felt myself rooting for the "bad" guys a lot of the time. The comedy helps uplift the very gritty, dark setting of this series, although I can't say it ever made me laugh much.
Story-wise, I really expected this show to just rely on gore, but the story pulls you in with its complete mystery. You'll find yourself instantly hopping into the next episode in the search for more clues, and just hoping to get some answers. I can say this show does a fine job of answering questions without creating more.
I HEAVILY recommend this show to everyone, unless gritty just isn't your style. Let's all hope for a season 2!
