Review of A Whisker Away
I'm a strong advocate of clichés being used in a good way but Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu definitely could not be the one to do it. The setting was mystical but the execution could not do it justice. All the characters were one dimensional and I don't think Hinode was particularly a good love interest either. Even if he were, the development did not do him justice. The love which bloomed between Hinode and Miyo simply came off as a means of plot device and failed to be sincere. Aesthetically speaking, the movie is very pretty. The camera work is great and the artfits the nuance of the story well. If you're looking for a no-brainer eye-candy during dinnertime, this will be a good movie.
Overall this is the most 6/10 movie I've seen. The only reason I bumped up the score by a 1 was because of Yorushika.
