Things to know: I'm not a professional, just a fan. No spoilers My review doesn't follow the dumb MAL rating system. I just talk about what's good and bad Grammatical errors are made (unless they're not then, ayyyy)Don't let this review sway you away from watching this show and vice versa

A slice of life and romance anime. Horimiya is an anime that uses both of these genres to the fullest. It has a way with you when watching it that keeps you refreshed and new. The anime kept me on my toes, focused, waiting to see what else the anime had to offer. The story, simple, yet fulfilling and easy to digest. This anime has to be one of the best slice of life's I have watched and definitely one I wont regret watching. And oh my god is the animation and art style just a 10/10.
Horimiya is really just a fun light hearted show which does not drop their standards (until the end, but we'll get to that). Their characters are fun to watch and each having their own traits making the show even more enjoyable to watch, because each character gives the anime a warm feel to it. Though what makes this anime special is the the mix of romance and slice of life genres.
Romance is very popular in the anime community and it's hard to pull of something original whilst also making it work as most ideas have been taken. Now Horimiya might not be the most original, but hell does it feel like it. Nothing has done something like Horimiya in which feels like a decade. I get goose bumps every time I hear the opening or when I see the main couple. They take that slice of life genre and mix it together with romance and make the perfect blend. It is truly something special, but...
Ending is something difficult to conjure, and in Horimiya's case, it is the most difficult of them all. Such a great anime, about to leave fans with a goodbye, the end needs to be perfect to match, what is already, a perfect show. Some shows finish in spectacular fashion, but this was not the case. The show ends with me feeling discomfort, disturbed, and dry. Now it wasnt the worst endings, but with what we were given each episode, I thought they would have gone full out. I felt nothing, it was like there was so much missing, like the last bullet in the chamber was a blank, like I was turning into a ghost. That was the biggest, most noticeable flaw in the whole show. I wanted more, but almost felt like i was being punished for being to greedy.
The last time I watched Horimiya were the clips on YouTube, reminding me of what a fun show it was. Almost as if I was watching it for the first time. I gave it a 9 for great content it provided and all the great memories i had while watching it. Ending however is what prevented this to be any higher, a very clear 10 only to cut short at the finishing line. Not disappointed, just sad it couldn't get to its full potential.
