Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc

What incredible animation. I was consistently blown away with how amazing it looked every episode, and every fight was truly entertaining to watch. I found this season a marked improvement over the first, but this season is far from flawless as well. If it wasn't for the animation, I very much doubt I would have enjoyed this season as much as I did, since every other aspect of this anime doesn't even come close in terms of quality. Story was as generic as the first season's, and the first half was so painfully boring (I didn't really care for anything that was going on untilepisode 6). While it picks up extremely quickly once the actual fighting happens, I find it inexcusable for a show to take this long to get interesting. The writing also ranges from meh to laughable, and some of the dialogue is just so painful to read. The comedy is also done horrendously. It is always shown in literally the most inappropriate times and deflates any and all tension from a scene. There were multiple instances where I thought it was supposed to be serious but then characters start bickering and make those stupid chibi faces... Why? Is that supposed to be funny? It just looks stupid.

Art and animation as stated above is perfect. One of the most well animated animes I have ever watched. Cliche to say at this point, but it legitimately carries this entire show.

Sound was decent, OP and ED were fine. Voice acting was good as usual. It's grating to hear the main trio screaming all the damn time but that's the script's fault and not the VA's.

The characters were a mixed bag for me; Nezuko is cute as usual, Tengen Uzui and the new Demons were pretty fun to watch but I once again found Tanjiro boring and Inosuke and Zenitsu to be insufferably annoying. I beg you, please stop screaming every 5 seconds. The wives of Tengen were also pretty underutilized which is a shame because I liked their designs quite a lot.

Despite the flaws in the story and the characters, I still enjoyed watching this anime, even if it was mostly because of the animation itself. I think it's worth the watch, I just don't think it's top 30 anime material.
