I have mixed feelings about this movie. On one side, they added some fun "behind the scenes" content to Shiro's trial on whether he is a spy or not which was actually very interesting and fit in well thematically to the OVA. I also really liked Alice Miller as a character; A Federation soldier who also tried to think of the enemy as human beings the same way Shiro does, but unfortunately ended up being hurt because of that mindset and is now vehemently antagonistic to Shiro because of this reason. Her character is so well written and her demeanor is cool (not to mentionshe's pretty). They really should've added her and this arc into the OVA and not left her to just this movie which would've left out all the pointless flashbacks in the movie.
Like I said just now, this movie has so many pointless flashbacks. A little more than half of this movie is just flashbacks to the OVA and is a complete waste of potential. Miller's arc is way too short and lacks significant substance for a movie and fits sooooo much better as a 1 or 2 episode arc for the OVA.
I would've truly rated it a 3 if it wasn't for Alice Miller being very well written for how little we see her and her arc overall. Unfortunately, that alone is not enough to rate in any higher IMO.
