Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

Opening with the classic time-travel hook of the heroine's murder, which leads to slowly teasing out hints of a childhood romance within the framework of a switched-bride arranged marriage, and continuing with the sweetness of a wholesome romance between the married couple even as they fight to figure out the perpetrator who keeps trying to kill the heroine? Count me in! This manga is classically Josei. While a slow plot pushes readers onward - the time travel element after the heroine's murder in the first chapter teases a Final Big Bad, while she faces continual threats to her safety/life - the real focus of this storyis the romance. It's a sweet and wholesome romance - Meiko, our heroine, is a gentle and soft maiden, whose badass moments mostly come through her skilled work and kindness to others; Akashi, the male lead, is kind, thoughtful in noticing Meiko's struggles, and suitably powerful without being a deus ex machina. The most unique characterisation for Meiko is that she has very weak eyesight, but she's overall what one would expect from a story of this premise.

Anyone looking for a black flag male lead or a crafty female lead, this story is not for you. But for those who might enjoy a slower-paced, wholesome romance with wholesome characters, this one may be a sweet read.
