Cocoon · review
Spoiler warning
This review may discuss plot details.
The story is told from the point of view of some young students, who find themselves acting as nurses to wounded soldiers to help their city. Many of these girls therefore have no manual skills in rescuing an injured person or helping a sick person. Between the two main girls there seems to be a bond beyond friendship but the romance component is weak. The narrative of the story is tragic, realistic and with an ending that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. Although the drawings are very crude and sketchy, the manga features amputation, blood, and other gore. In the story there are continuousmetaphors about the cocoon which, once opened, will form a butterfly.
The butterfly of this story that will emerge from the cocoon has wings but will not be able to fly
